The companies are leaving
Pocketing their handouts
The workers get the shaft
And you thought it would trickle down
Happy with the scraps
But the market has abandoned you
And we all feel the impact

Austerity
The burden of deficit
Is placed upon the vulnerable
And on the backs of the working class
Gut the public sector
For a lower corporate tax
But the money goes to shareholders
So they get the last laugh

Alberta, wake up

how can you not see
with all the suffering in the streets
uncanny acts play on repeat
of violence done to those in need
and in the gap is what is missed
when we are crushed beneath their fists
while holding profits over people
trading stock in deficits

Ideologies
Based in hate and fear
Depend on inequality
And therefor exploitation
As they take their dying breath
They’ll take you and me with them
So the killing blow is up to us
